South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a band 5 community occupational therapist to join our CAMHS eating disorders service for CYP. You will work in CYP homes and in community settings across the Wakefield District, delivering 1:1 intervention to promote occupation and functioning, and helping run a range of therapeutic groups.

Is CAMHS your passion? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you. We are looking to recruit a band 5 community occupational therapist to join our team. We are a specialist eating disorders team working with children and young people (CYP). The team is made up of OTs, mental health practitioners, psychiatrists, children's nurses, dieticians and social workers. We are looking for a qualified Occupational Therapist with an interest in CYP, eating disorders to join our team. You will work with CYP and their families in their own homes, and the community providing 1:1 intervention to promote occupation and functioning. The team have a range of therapeutic groups, and you will also be involved in facilitating the running of these groups. Experience in children and young persons services would be advantageous but is not essential. We welcome occupational therapists who want to begin working in this specialty. You should be able to demonstrate considerable mental health skills and knowledge. An experience of working with Children and Young people facing eating difficulties is desirable, this can be transferrable skills from prior clinical experience. The team is based between Airedale Health Centre in Castleford and Drury Lane Health Centre in Wakefield. However you will work in different community settings across the Wakefield District and the 5 towns. Being a car driver is essential due to the potential distance required to travel when completing home/clinic-visits.
As part of the role you will be responsible for the assessment of young people presenting with difficulties associated with eating disorder. You will hold a caseload within which you will deliver evidence informed care to assist the young person and family through recovery. The successful candidates will need to develop good working relationships with key professionals across the district; therefore excellent communication and engagement skills are essential. A commitment to improving service delivery and developing new ways of supporting children, young people and families experiences is crucial to work within the wider CAMHS team. In return we will provide a comprehensive induction programme, regular clinical and management supervision. The service operates Monday-Friday; 9am-5pm however successful applicants would be expected to have the flexibility to work occasional extended hours to facilitate service effectiveness. Applicants must be caring and non-judgmental to engage CYP and their families at this extremely sensitive time. Applicants must have excellent clinical skills, confidence and enthusiasm for working with CYP partner agencies in networks that extend beyond traditional specialist mental health boundaries. The post holder will be required to work as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team, providing occupational therapy assessment and treatment for service users in receipt of care from community services. Enabling service users to engage in a range of community based treatment activities. You will be actively involved in the promotion of occupational therapy within the service area. The post holder will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and the client group.
