Job summary

NHS Scotland is recruiting an Occupational Therapist (Band 5) to work within Renfrewshire Occupational Therapy Community Mental Health Services. The post involves delivering mental health assessments and interventions to support recovery and promote safe, independent living for service users.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary mental health team with professional supervision provided by a Senior Specialist Occupational Therapist.

Qualifications

  • HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist is required.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Confident in core occupational therapy skills.
  • Collaborative clinical approach.
  • Ability to work creatively and innovatively within mental health services.
  • Access to protected Continuing Professional Development (CPD) time.
  • Supervision provided by a Senior Specialist Occupational Therapist.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out generic mental health and specialist occupational therapy assessments.
  • Deliver occupational therapy interventions for patients within the Community Mental Health Team.
  • Support individuals with severe and/or enduring mental health difficulties.
  • Provide interventions on a one-to-one basis and through group work.
  • Make recommendations to support safe and independent living.
  • Assist service users in their recovery by helping establish structure and routine.
  • Support vocational rehabilitation, access to leisure activities, education, and employability opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary mental health team.

Job description

The Role

Occupational Therapist (Band 5) within the Renfrewshire Occupational Therapy Community Mental Health Services. The post involves delivering occupational therapy assessments and interventions for individuals with mental health difficulties, supporting recovery and promoting safe, independent living.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
  • Full-time, Permanent
  • Shift pattern - Monday – Friday, 9 am-5 pm, flexible RWW arrangements

Key Responsibilities
