Sedgemoor Manor School are recruiting for an Occupational Therapist to join our Therapy team. We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and passionate people to become an integral part of our therapy team. The successful candidate will join our multi-disciplinary team, which may suit someone experienced in a special needs environment or newly qualified, who will be required to work closely with another Occupational Therapist and other professionals providing support to students.

Sedgemoor Manor is a specialist day school for young people who have needs associated with a diagnosis on the autistic spectrum / SPLD and are aged between 10 and 18 years. Our tailored approach means we are able to support young people with a wide range of learning difficulties. We accept that young people who are referred to us may have previously experienced a ‘cycle of failure’ and our aim is to have a transformational impact on their lives by them experiencing a ‘culture of success’. We support all young people to achieve successful outcomes so that they can progress to experience fulfilling and rewarding lives.

We are looking for a practitioner with a passion and knowledge surrounding ASD and sensory processing disorders. The successful applicant will be HCPC registered and will hold BSc Occupational Therapy or profession specific equivalent qualification. Experience of working with young people with complex needs is essential. You will have an experience / awareness of Sensory Processing Disorders and the application of sensory integration theory in practice, assessment and clinical observations and you will be able to demonstrate a dynamic and creative approach to delivering treatment approaches. This role will have a strategic element, whereby you will assess, deliver and review therapeutic provision to our young people. The applicant will be proactive in disseminating best ways of working to the wider support team and will be confident to deliver onsite profession specific training to colleagues as and when required.

The applicant will work close partnership with a diverse team of Therapy and educational specialists to deliver tailored support that meets the needs of each young person. The applicant will join a supportive and experienced team of dedicated support staff, committed to delivering the very best care. The successful applicant will receive a bespoke internal induction programme and the ability to network with Therapists across other Aspris sites.
