Job summary

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join an expanding team at Queen Alexandra Hospital. The role offers a challenging, fast-paced environment with opportunities to develop skills across multiple rotations.

You will deliver patient-centred OT interventions, contribute to MDT working, and progress your career through supervision, CPD, and leadership pathways. A Band 5 salary with a generous benefits package accompanies the position.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy (OT) and HCPC registration.
• Demonstrated evidence of clinical placements and CPD.
• Experience with functional assessment and activity analysis.
• Experience with literature reviews/research.
• Ability to assess, analyse and develop OT plans of care.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan and implement OT to a designated caseload and adapt intervention to meet client needs.
• Involve patients and carers in treatment planning and goal setting.
• Responsible for assessment, prescription and fitting of equipment.
• Maintain up-to-date written and electronic records and activity data per standards.
• Provide OT intervention in home, hospital, schools and work environments.

Job Description

NHS Band 5 Salary: £32,073 - £39,043 per annum

Hours Per Week: Full Time 37.5 hrs

Contract Type: 3 XPermanent

As part of our department, you will be responsible for the day-to-day referrals and assessments as allocated to you within the rotation you are working in. Within this fast-paced environment, you will gain knowledge and experience of MDT working, functional and risk assessments, access, home, and follow up visits and liaison with a variety of services in both Health and Social care. The work allocated to you will always be within your competence levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan and implement Occupational Therapy to a designated caseload and adapt intervention to meet client needs e.g. therapeutic handling, participation in treatment activity, dealing with distressing/sensitive issues.
• To ensure patients and carers are an integral part of their treatment planning and goal setting.
• To be responsible for assessment, prescription and fitting of equipment, whilst demonstrating an awareness of local cost implications.
• To ensure that up to date written and electronic records, reports and activity data are maintained in accordance with professional and Trust standards.
• To provide intervention in a variety of environments, e.g. clients home, hospital/healthcare settings, schools, work environment to meet client needs.
