Band 6 Locum Occupational Therapist – Acute Inpatients

Hours : Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00 (as per shift schedule)

Specialty : Acute Inpatient Occupational Therapy

Job Summary
  • We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Acute Inpatient team
  • The postholder will provide high-quality, patient-centred occupational therapy to adults across acute medical, orthopaedic, neurological, and older adult pathways.
  • The role involves managing a diverse caseload, supporting safe discharge planning, and contributing to multidisciplinary working within a fast-paced acute setting.
Key Responsibilities

Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment, treatment, and intervention for adults within acute inpatient wards.

Manage a varied caseload covering:

  • Older adults
  • Neurology
  • Orthopaedics
  • Acute medical presentations
Professional Responsibilities

Supervise, teach, and support Band 5 OTs, support workers, and students.

Delegate tasks appropriately while maintaining responsibility for clinical outcomes.

Demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, with patients, families, and colleagues.

Apply critical appraisal skills, including the ability to critique research articles and integrate evidence into practice.

Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and best practice initiatives.

Essential Requirements
