Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust in Leeds General Infirmary invites applications for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join the In-patient OT Team in a specialist Band 6 role. Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist(OT) to join the In-patient OT Team at Leeds General Infirmary in a specialist Band 6 role.

This post focuses on the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with complex vascular conditions, those undergoing vascular surgery, and individuals following major lower/upper limb amputation. Based within a busy regional arterial centre, you will support a high-volume acute caseload across Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, with approximately 150 major amputation referrals received each year.

Working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert rehabilitation and discharge planning to help patients maximise independence and achieve meaningful outcomes. The role offers excellent opportunities to develop specialist clinical skills and contribute to service improvement within a supportive teaching hospital environment.

You will be supported by an experienced OT team, working closely with colleagues also delivering services across cardiology, cardiac surgery and head and neck specialties.

• Undertake comprehensive assessments to identify patients' rehabilitation, discharge planning and equipment needs, ensuring safe, effective and person-centred interventions
• Provide specialist assessment and prescription of complex equipment, including wheelchairs, adaptive equipment and environmental modifications to maximise independence and safety
• Complete home and environmental visits to assess accessibility, identify risks and facilitate timely, safe discharge.
• Deliver specialist rehabilitation for patients following limb amputation, supporting adaptation of activities of daily living and promoting functional recovery
• Manage a complex caseload, demonstrating advanced clinical reasoning, problem-solving and decision-making skills to support patient-centred care planning
• Work autonomously and collaboratively within the MDT to provide coordinated, high-quality care and achieve positive patient outcomes
• Contribute to discharge planning processes, ensuring patients, families and carers are supported to transition safely between care settings
• Support the development and delivery of innovative OT services, contributing to service improvement, quality initiatives and development of rehabilitation pathways
• Demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Leeds Way values, promoting compassionate, inclusive and patient-focused care
• Provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to Band 5 OT’s, support workers and OT students, fostering learning and professional development
