Job description

Are you ready to make a real difference to people's lives at a pivotal moment in their recovery? At Kent County Council, Occupational Therapy is recognised as a vital service that empowers people to live well, regain confidence and do the things that matter most to them. Our Short Term Pathways Occupational Therapy Teams are fast-paced, creative and highly collaborative, supporting people to return home safely following a period of ill health, hospital admission or stay in a care setting.

We are looking for an inspiring and motivated Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist to join our West Kent Short Term Pathways Team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and support a skilled team of Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assessment Officers, helping to shape excellent day-to-day clinical practice and drive positive team performance.

In this rewarding role, you will work closely with Short Term Pathways Social Care colleagues, Health Discharge teams, Kent Enablement at Home, Community Health Services and Social Care Occupational Therapy Teams. Together, you will take a coordinated, preventative, and person-centred approach to maximising independence, reducing the need for long-term care and helping people achieve meaningful outcomes in their own homes.

You will be supported to thrive from day one. We offer an excellent induction, ongoing training, and meaningful opportunities to develop your leadership and management skills. You will also be able to build specialist expertise in moving and handling, enablement approaches, specialist equipment, and major adaptations, ensuring the people we support receive high-quality, personalised interventions that genuinely improve lives. With regular individual supervision from the Operational Manager and a tailored personal development plan, this is a fantastic opportunity to grow your career, share your expertise and be the best you can be within Kent.
