Job summary

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust is seeking an Occupational Therapist to work in the eating disorder day treatment service in Warwick, United Kingdom. The post holder will deliver day-to-day services to individuals and families, and provide cover for peers across CWPT as required.

Key duties include applying specialist OT knowledge, assessing service users with various tools, and supervising staff and students within a multidisciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• Relevant Professional Qualification in OT
• Current unrestricted registration with HCPC
• Relevant training and experience specialist short courses
• Substantial experience in a mental health setting
• Experience of using recovery focused intervention
• Developed specialist clinical knowledge gained within a similar environment over a considerable period of time
• Significant experience of undertaking assessment, formulation, risk assessment and positive risk taking
• Experience of safeguarding
• Experience of supervising / overseeing staff and students

Responsibilities

• Apply enhanced clinical knowledge and skills to the work environment
• Identify and verify factors including contra-indications from patient history
• Deliver specific interventions in line with the treatment pathway, including complex clients
• Deliver professional evidence-based OT assessment, treatment planning, intervention, and evaluation of service users needs
• Deliver Occupational Therapy through patient engagement in meaningful activity in self-care, productivity and leisure
• Evaluate potential efficacy of planned intervention given all available data
• Liaise with colleagues and other clinicians to clarify and resolve any discrepancies in evaluation of patient data
• Generate options including modification or alternatives to planned intervention to meet clinical need
• Verify suitability and potential effectiveness of planned intervention or suggested alternatives
• Agree course of action with those responsible for performing the intervention
• Document key points of agreement, including factors influencing advice
• Assess and plan care delivery for individual service users within Care Programme Approach
• Facilitate transfer between services, signpost and/ or discharge as appropriate
• Routinely enquire, identify and report safeguarding issues

Job summary
The post holder will be required to work within the new eating disorder day treatment service.
The post holder will have responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of the service to individual clients and their families and carers via a range of evidence-based interventions. They will be expected to provide cover for peers across the Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust, planned or unplanned as required.
Main duties of the job

• To ensure Occupational Therapy makes a significant and specialist contribution in the eating disorder day treatment service.
• Assess service users using a variety of assessment tools, specialised observational and communication skills.
• To provide a learning environment for staff and students.
