Job summary

Health Partners on-site in Govan and Scotstoun is seeking an Occupational Health Technician to deliver health screening procedures and support the OH team in a collaborative environment.

You will perform screenings, record data, maintain equipment, and ensure confidentiality while contributing to wellbeing initiatives. The role is 22.5 hours across Tue, Wed and Thu mornings with a competitive benefits package.

  • No formal qualification required.
  • Background in health care or wellbeing fields is beneficial.
  • Experience in occupational health is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct health screening procedures such as height, weight, blood pressure, urinalysis, audiometry, lung function testing, and drug and alcohol testing.
  • Accurately recording medical information in occupational health records and sharing it with clinical staff for interpretation.
  • Maintaining and calibrating equipment to ensure it is clean, serviceable, and fit for purpose.
  • Adhering to set protocols, recognizing the limits of your role, and escalating queries outside your competencies to clinical staff.
  • Ensuring compliance with chain-of-custody procedures for drug and alcohol testing, including handling samples and paperwork.

About The Role

As an Occupational Health Technician, you will play a vital role in delivering health screening procedures, supporting the Occupational Health (OH) team, and ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the department. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Based on -site in Govan and Scotstoun, you will be working 22.5 hours per week, starting at 8am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

What You’ll Be Doing

No two days will be the same in this varied and rewarding role. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Accurately recording medical information in occupational health records and sharing it with clinical staff for further interpretation.
  • Maintaining and calibrating equipment to ensure it is clean, serviceable, and fit for purpose.
  • Adhering to set protocols, recognising the limits of your role, and escalating queries outside your competencies to clinical staff.
  • Ensuring compliance with chain-of-custody procedures for drug and alcohol testing, including handling samples, completing paperwork, and managing testing information.
  • Supporting non-clinical tasks, such as filing, tidying, and health promotion activities.
  • Maintaining professionalism, respecting patient confidentiality, and promoting equality and dignity in the workplace.
What We’re Looking For

We value a variety of experiences and backgrounds. While there’s no formal qualification required, ideal candidates will come from one of the following fields:

  • Health Care Assistant
  • Fitness Instructor
  • Ambulance EMT
  • Military Medic
  • Offshore Medic
Essential Skills & Attributes
  • Strong numeracy and written English skills.
  • An understanding of patient confidentiality and a commitment to respecting privacy.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach to work.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • IT literacy.
Desirable Skills
  • Previous knowledge or experience in occupational health is a bonus!
