The post-holder will be expected to:
Provide expertise and leadership in high risk obstetric care and share a passion for perinatal mental health management as well as maternal medicine, fetal medicine and preterm birth care.
Develop their own specialist interest which will be considered and accommodated within the job plan after discussion at interview.
To be a passionate leader within high risk obstetrics.
To work across the UHD NHS Foundation Trust estate.
To support and develop the perinatal mental health service locally.
Undertake the investigation and treatment of obstetric referrals in accordance with departmental and Trust guidelines.
Participate in the timetabled obstetric sessions and join the other obstetric consultants in maintaining and developing modern obstetric practice to a high standard.
Oversee the care of obstetrics patients admitted by themselves or other obstetricians/gynaecologists.
Contribute to the resident on call rota.
Participate in the non-resident weekend consultant on call rota.
Coordinate annual and study leave arrangements with colleagues within the department to ensure an acceptable level of consultant cover.
UHD are investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. As part of this, some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers will be happy to answer any service-specific questions at interview.
This service has moved from Poole site to Bournemouth site in Spring 2025.
If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
