Job summary

TeacherActive Limited. is seeking a compassionate Nurture Teacher to work in a specialist education setting in Uxbridge, Greater London. You will deliver engaging lessons and provide both academic and pastoral support to pupils with SEMH and additional needs.

The role focuses on creating a calm, structured classroom, building relationships, and using trauma-informed approaches to support students’ progress and well-being. DBS checks and QTS/QTLS are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching or supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour.
• Confident delivering lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
• Patient, nurturing approach and resilience.
• Trauma-informed/restorative approaches to education.
• QTS/QTLS or significant teaching experience.
• DBS Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lessons to pupils with SEMH and additional needs.
• Create a calm, structured, nurturing classroom environment.
• Support pupils with challenging behaviour or barriers to learning.
• Adapt teaching to meet individual academic, emotional and social needs.
• Develop strong relationships to improve engagement and attendance.
• Use effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
• Collaborate with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff, SENCOs and professionals.
• Support pupils' confidence, resilience, independence and emotional regulation.
• Monitor progress and contribute to support plans.
