Job summary

A healthcare provider in Burton upon Trent is seeking a Head Cook to join their team at a nursing and residential home. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of meals, ensuring dietary requirements are met, and leading the kitchen staff. Job description

We are recruiting for a Head Cook to join our team at Poplars Nursing and Residential Home, where you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults and individuals living with dementia.

Position Details
  • Hours: 4 shifts per week, shift times 05:30 to 15:30
  • Rate of pay: £ per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications
  • Schedule: Rota basis, including weekends and some bank holidays
  • Location: DE13 (Please consider travel times, especially on weekends)

We are looking to speak with people who are passionate about cooking and providing a range of quality meals for the people who live within the care and nursing home. We will look to you to prepare and cook, hot and cold meals, taking into consideration dietary requirements and individual preferences. You will also provide leadership and support to the kitchen staff team.

Further responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to
  • Maintain accurate records of food supplies and deliveries
  • Plan or contribute to menus with a focus on fresh ingredients and balanced nutrition
  • Stock rotation
  • Ensure all equipment is cleaned, well maintained, and stored appropriately
  • Ensure the cleaning of the kitchen and dining areas are carried out effectively
