Overview

At Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), our Nursing Assistants take great pride in the essential work we do. We are looking to recruit individuals who are dedicated to the delivery of safe, clean and high quality nursing care. With a passion for helping others and an ability to demonstrate compassion and empathy in caring for our patients, your support and hands-on work will offer patients a more positive and reassuring hospital stay.

You will need to have excellent communication skills, a friendly and empathetic communication style, the ability to engage with patients, visitors and colleagues, the ability to work well in a team, and Maths & English GCSE C or above (or equivalent qualifications).

On joining MFT, you’ll be supported to develop your knowledge and skills through our Support Worker Development Programme for Nursing Assistants, which includes completion of the Care Certificate for candidates who have not completed this previously. The completion of this programme can provide progression opportunities and support career development within the Trust.

Qualifications

Essential

  • General education completed
  • Holds Level 3 vocational qualification (e.g., NVQ) or an apprenticeship in clinical healthcare
  • Functional Skills Level 1 Maths and English or GCSE equivalent

Desirable

  • Currently works as a Band 3 nursing assistant
  • Venipuncture skills
  • ECG taking skills
  • Clinical observations skills
  • Hive experience
Experience

Essential

  • Relevant work or voluntary experience in health or care
  • Knowledge and experience of safeguarding
  • Knowledge and experience of infection prevention and control
  • Experience of working with a group of patients
  • Experience in handling patient/relative complaints as appropriate

Desirable

  • Experience supporting quality improvement audits and research and development activities
  • Experience working in more than one specialty within health care
