Job description
Overview

A Vacancy at Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust. An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 enthusiastic nursing assistants to join us on Willows Ward, specialising in the care of older age adults experiencing mental health conditions including dementia. We provide 24 hour care within our purpose built assessment and therapy unit, working within a multidisciplinary approach that optimises each individual’s recovery.

Training and Apprenticeship

If you don’t already have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, RDaSH are offering this post alongside the opportunity for you to complete a Level 3 apprenticeship qualification relevant to your role. As an apprentice you will gain experience, learn work‑related skills and obtain all the tools needed to thrive. An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. Around 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake agreed activities as delegated by a registered nurse, with patients/service users under the direct/indirect supervision of the qualified staff.
  • Provide care for patients’ physical and psychological needs, taking into account personal preferences and choices ensuring that a high standard of patient care is achieved.
  • Assist the relevant professionals during assessment, treatment or intervention where required, carrying out therapeutic and recreational programmes under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Carry out simple nursing procedures as instructed at the discretion of Registered Nurses, reporting on and recording findings (e.g. blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration rate, fluid balance charts, diet charts, testing urine, weighing patients) whilst demonstrating the ability to recognise abnormalities and report to the nursing members of the team.
  • Observe and provide feedback on the current patient’s status and presentation to appropriate members of the multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living that they cannot achieve alone, seeking advice from and reporting to Registered Nurses as required.
  • When required, visiting patients in the community with identified tasks as part of their care.
  • At the discretion of Registered Nurses, escorting patients between departments and on therapeutic outings.
Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for candidates who already possess a Level 3 qualification or have equivalent experience in a relevant subject. Apprenticeship eligibility is required for those who do not yet have the qualification. A commitment to learning and a passion for providing first‑class care are essential.
