Job summary

Kiddi Caru Day Nursery Hitchin, part of Grandir UK, is looking for a caring and enthusiastic Room Leader to support children and staff, promote high standards, and inspire curiosity. You will foster a safe, nurturing environment across the rooms and contribute to a thriving early years team.

The role offers a salary of £29,952–£31,200 depending on experience, with regular pay reviews, and a range of flexible-working and progression opportunities within a supportive organisation.

Responsibilities

• Promote high standards of quality within the nursery
• Support and supervise playroom staff with their day-to-day duties
• Deploy staff to ensure required standards are delivered and maintained in the rooms
• Ensure effective EYFS implementation and allocate children to keycarers
• Provide professional feedback to parents about their child
• Promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers
• Develop open and positive working relationships with staff
• Ensure staff maintain friendly, professional relationships with parents and carers
• Support and supervise overall room operations and child welfare

About Our Nursery

Our well-resourced playrooms provide a safe, creative space where children can explore, learn, and follow their interests. Children move between rooms based on readiness, with Bumblebees for babies, Ladybirds for younger toddlers, Caterpillars for older toddlers, and Butterflies for preschoolers.

Our garden is divided into two areas—one for babies and toddlers, the other for older children—and features a mud kitchen, climbing equipment, and a forest area, offering a stimulating outdoor environment for all ages.

Location and travel

Kiddi Caru Day Nursery in Hitchin is conveniently situated near Park Gate shops and offers easy access to a local park, just before Swanwick train station. Nestled on Grove Road near the River Purwell. With its central location in Hitchin, our nursery is easily accessible for all.

What You Will Be Doing

• Promote high standards of quality within the nursery
• Support and supervise playroom staff with their day-to-day duties
• Deploy staff appropriately to ensure that the required standards are delivered and maintained within the rooms
• Ensure the effective implementation of the nursery keycarer procedures and allocate children to keycarers appropriately
• Ensure that practice and provision in the nursery meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
• Provide professional, relevant feedback to parents and carers about their child
• Promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers
• Develop open and positive working relationships with staff
• Ensure that all staff develop and maintain friendly, professional relationships with parents and carers
