Job description

We are seeking a Nursery Room Leader to work in a nursery in Astwick. Please only apply if you have a minimum level 3 childcare qualification alongside experience as a practitioner or room leader.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare all staff learning and participate in activities that stimulate the interest of children and babies.
• Take the Equal Opportunities policy into account and address diversity issues.
• Promote the use of books and play materials to support children's development and celebrate diversity in the local community.
• Work independently, using initiative at times with support from the Manager and Directors.
• Communicate verbally and in writing with children, parents and external agencies.
• Supervise and delegate staff appropriately, ensuring awareness of relevant legislation.
• Maintain daily routines and work flexibly in response to service demands.
• Respond to reasonable requests and carry out duties as requested for the smooth running of the nursery.
• Take pride in the nursery environment.
• Encourage equal opportunities and focus on safeguarding and well‑being of the children at all times.
• Support and advise the rest of the team, maintaining good relations with all staff, volunteers, students and parents.
• Provide an emotionally and psychologically safe environment for children and visitors.

Qualifications

• Level 3 childcare qualification (minimum).
• Experience as a practitioner or room leader.
• GCSE or equivalent (preferred).
• Experience in nursery, childcare, or management: 1 year each (preferred).
