Job description

A warm and welcoming Nursery Practitioner is needed at Alloa Nursery, Alloa. This permanent role is full time (34 hours) or part time (25 hours) and offers a national living wage salary.

The Role
  • Create a warm and welcoming environment.
  • Use initiative and share ideas and information.
  • Identify and meet children’s needs individually and within a group.
  • Observe and track children’s development through Learning Journals.
  • Apply current documents and resources in practice.
  • Collaborate within a team, maintaining positive relationships and productive teamwork.
  • Act on advice and constructive criticism from peers and management.
  • Observe Health and Safety within the nursery and report hazards for risk assessments.
  • Be supportive and diplomatic towards parents and children.
  • Commit to Little Stars Nurseries policies and procedures.
  • Attend occasional staff meetings outside working hours; time will be compensated.
  • Continue training to aid both the nursery and your development.
  • Ensure wellbeing and development of all children by providing stimulating, rich learning experiences.
  • Work as part of a team alongside colleagues.
Skills and Qualifications
  • HNC or SVQ III in Childcare and Education or equivalent; registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the developmental needs of young children.
  • Understanding of the role of parents/carers and respect this role.
  • Knowledge of local and national guidelines, curriculum, childcare provision and procedures.
