We are seeking a Band 4 Nursery Nurse to join the NICU Team. Working across NICU and Transitional care on the postnatal ward to provide care to our baby’s.
The NICU is one of the 3 tertiary centres for the Eastern Neonatal network and part of the East of England Neonatal ODN. The unit admits babies requiring tertiary neonatal care including surgery and neurosurgery.
Lady Mary ward is a 27 bedded postnatal ward caring for families from the birth of their baby until discharge home. The ward also cares for mothers whose babies are on the neonatal unit (NICU).
You will receive training and development in this friendly and dynamic organisation which seeks to innovate and strives for excellence. You will also receive a full and comprehensive orientation package and professional support tailored to individual needs.
You will be responsible for providing safe and effective care to babies within the service under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. This will include all aspects of parent craft and discharge planning.
You will be responsible for the preparation of all milk feeds including specialised diets for infants within Children’s Services.
To maintain a safe, child-focused environment where play occurs naturally
To use knowledge of child development when selecting play activity.
To provide individualised nursing and family centered care to babies requiring at risk and neonatal transitional care. This includes babies requiring IV therapy via a peripheral line, hot cot, nasogastric tube feeding or phototherapy. Support the ward in caring for ‘at risk’ babies outside criteria where allocation allows.
