Job summary

A leading children's hospital nursery in London is seeking a dedicated Nursery Nurse to provide high-quality care for children aged 3 months to 5 years. The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 childcare qualification and experience in a nursery setting. This full-time position offers a fixed-term contract for 16 months with a competitive salary ranging from £30,546 to £32,207 per year. Are you a nurturing, enthusiastic childcare professional who is ready to make a difference in little lives? We’re looking for a dedicated Nursery Nurse to join our warm and welcoming team at GOSH Staff Day Nursery. The nursery is in a quiet cul‑de‑sac on Long Yard, with numerous parks and outdoor provisions available for the children to visit daily.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include:

  • Build relationships with small groups of children and their families.
  • Provide high standards of quality within the nursery including the environment, resources and experiences offered to children.
  • Observe, support and extend children's learning.
  • Plan appropriately for children using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for guidance.

To be considered for the role you will be:

You will need to have a minimum Childcare Level 3 qualification and experience of working in a busy nursery environment covering the age range 3 months – 5 years, together with excellent knowledge of child development and current practices.

Person Specification
  • Always values
  • Level 3 childcare & education qualification e.g., NVQ 3, BTEC etc equivalent childcare courses (must meet the early years educator criteria and be approved by Ofsted)
  • Paediatric First Aid
Experience / Knowledge
  • Demonstrable evidence of significant experience of working in a nursery setting, with children aged 3 months – 5 years.
  • Demonstrable experience of contributing to daily/weekly planning for children aged 0‑5 years.
  • Knowledge and experience of using Development Matters and EYFS in a nursery setting.
Skills / Abilities
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work within a team and under own initiative.
  • Ability to meet the needs of the service within a team environment.
