Job description

We are looking for a Trainee Nursery Manager to lead our beautiful, purpose built nursery, Paper Lane Day Nursery in Paulton.

Paper Lane Day Nursery is a private day nursery with 60 spaces and is located in the heart of Paulton village.

We are looking for someone passionate about early years education and care, with nursery management experience. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills and be confident in liaising with children’s families and partner agencies. Successful candidates will demonstrate a clear love for working with children 6 months to five years old and committed to supporting children’s early learning and development in line with the early years foundation stage.

As the Nursery Manager you will be responsible for effectively managing the nursery team to ensure that the setting is always providing the highest quality of care and education. You will oversee the operational management of the nursery adhering to the EYFS Statutory Framework and Ofsted requirements; whilst having scope to contribute to how the nursery operates.

Day to Day Responsibilities

You will take overall ownership for the day to day running of the setting and have accountability for the following:

  • Motivate, lead and support the team of staff and drive development and progression through guidance, support, role modelling and training opportunities.
  • Ensure that the nursery operates to the highest standards and meets all relevant statutory requirements, including Health and Safety regulations.
  • Proactively manage the nursery, being responsible for planning and logistics, running the nursery routine, managing ratios and rotas.
  • Manage the nursery budget effectively.
  • Ensure the setting is well resourced and as a team we are delivering high quality provision and learning opportunities for our children.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, children and all members of the team.
Qualifications
  • An excellent leader with good knowledge of all ages and stages - able to inspire and mentor staff.
  • A passionate and positive attitude towards working with children and families.
  • At least 2 years current or recent management level experience within an early years setting.
  • At least 5 years post qualification experience.
  • Ideally hold an Early Years Degree but must have a minimum Level 3 Qualification.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Ofsted requirements and the Revised EYFS framework.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Ability to organise own work effectively and that of others, identify priorities and meet outcomes.
