About the Role

Cothrom Òg Nursery in South Uist is looking for a fluent Gaelic-speaking Manager to lead its early years service for children aged three months to five years.

The nursery is part of the Cothrom Learning Centre, a registered charity supporting learning and community development across the area.

This is a key leadership role focused on delivering high quality Gaelic Medium childcare and early years education, while working closely with the wider Cothrom team to support community learning and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day to day management of the nursery.
  • Ensure full compliance with childcare regulations and standards.
  • Plan and deliver the curriculum through short, medium and long term planning.
  • Maintain high quality practice in line with the Curriculum for Excellence, National Care Standards, Realising the Ambition and sector Quality Frameworks.
  • Work closely with the Cothrom Manager to integrate nursery work with wider adult learning services.
  • Support positive relationships with families and the local community.
Requirements
  • Fluent Gaelic speaker.
  • Knowledge of early years curriculum and national standards.
  • Experience planning and delivering early years learning.
  • Qualification meeting SSSC requirements for practitioner or manager, or willingness to work towards one.
  • PVG Scheme membership for regulated work with children.
Hours and Contract

Full time position with some flexibility available for the right candidate.
