Job summary

The University of Birmingham's Elms Day Nursery is recruiting a Nursery Lunchtime Assistant to help provide safe, high-quality care for children during lunch. The role involves assisting with meals, supervising play, and supporting staff to meet EYFS requirements.

This part-time position is up to 11.20 hours per week in Edgbaston with good transport links. DBS checks and referees are required; the University offers training and development opportunities and staff benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience with children from birth to five years and behaviour management.
• Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and its requirements.
• Commitment to health & safety in the workplace.
• Ability to follow policies on equal opportunities and safeguarding.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training such as First Aid.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork.
• Reliable with good attendance.
• Flexible and energetic in a childcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set tables, and clear them away.
• Assist during mealtimes and supervise feeding appropriate to age and weight.
• Feed bottles and prepare meals for younger children.
• Support play opportunities and interact with children under supervision.
• Set out rooms with toys and activities and arrange furniture for accessibility.
• Work as part of a team or on an individual basis.
