Deputy Room Leader

We are excited to welcome a dedicated and motivated Deputy Room Leader to join our thriving Pre‑School Classroom, supporting a lively group of 26 children alongside a warm and experienced team of 5 staff. This is an excellent opportunity for an early years professional who is ready to take on more responsibility and grow into a strong leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

As our Deputy Room Leader, you will work closely with the Room Leader to oversee the daily running of the classroom, ensuring that all children receive exceptional care, encouragement, and learning opportunities. You will support staff in delivering engaging activities, maintaining a stimulating environment, and ensuring that the EYFS framework is embedded throughout the room. Your role also includes contributing to planning, observations, parent partnerships, and creating an inclusive space where every child feels valued and supported.

Working Hours

Full‑time role: 40 hours per week over 5 days, following a weekly rotating shift pattern.

  • 7:30am – 4:30pm
  • 9:30am – 6:30pm

Our nursery operates all year round, closing only for Bank Holidays and two weeks over Christmas, providing a stable and consistent environment for both children and staff.

Requirements

To be successful, you must hold a minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification and have at least one year of recent Day Nursery experience. We are looking for someone who is confident, organised, approachable, and passionate about early childhood education. A strong understanding of the EYFS, excellent communication skills, and the ability to support a team are essential qualities for this Deputy Room Leader role.
