Job description

Our client, a highly respected nursery in High Wycombe, Berkshire, is currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Part‑time Nursery Assistant / Early Years Qualified Practitioner to join their team. The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced staff to provide exceptional care and education for children aged 0‑5 years. The position offers a competitive salary of £15.00 per hour.

As a Nursery Assistant / Early Years Qualified Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of the children in our care. You will be responsible for planning and implementing age‑appropriate activities, ensuring the safety and well‑being of the children, and maintaining a clean and organised learning space.

Key responsibilities
  • Assisting in the planning and delivery of engaging and educational activities that align with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Observing and assessing children's development, maintaining accurate records, and sharing progress with parents and colleagues.
  • Providing a safe, caring, and inclusive environment that encourages children to explore, learn, and grow.
  • Supporting children's individual needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Building strong partnerships with parents and carers, ensuring open communication and collaboration.
  • Maintaining a clean, hygienic, and well‑organised learning environment.
  • Adhering to all nursery policies, procedures, and safeguarding guidelines.
Qualifications and attributes
  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare or equivalent.
  • Sound knowledge of the EYFS framework and its practical application.
  • Experience working in a nursery or early years setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A nurturing and patient approach to working with children.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to work as part of a team.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • A valid DBS check and a clear understanding of safeguarding practices.
