Job summary

Grandir is seeking a Nursery Apprentice to deliver high-quality care and education in a welcoming childcare setting. You will gain hands-on experience while working towards the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship, with 20% off-the-job learning included in the day.

You will identify each child's needs, supervise activities, and model positive behaviour. Training and safeguarding procedures will be thoroughly covered to support your development in early years.

Qualifications

• Maths and English at Level 1 (Desirable).
• Positive, practical, friendly approach to working with children.
• Supportive team player with good communication skills.
• Training on the job with safeguarding procedures will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide high standard of care and education to children.
• Identify and meet individual children's needs throughout the day.
• Supervise and support children, engage in activities like stories and play.
• Assist with mealtimes and changing nappies as needed.
• Build positive relationships with staff and parents and follow safeguarding.

Role Summary

As a Nursery Apprentice, you will be expected to provide the highest standard of care and education while gaining hands-on experience in a high‑quality childcare setting and working towards recognised childcare qualifications. Your responsibilities will include identifying and meeting each child's individual needs, supervising and supporting them throughout the day, and engaging in a variety of interactive activities such as reading stories, helping at mealtimes, playing games, and changing nappies. You will act as a positive and practical role‑model, build friendly and professional relationships with staff and parents, and ensure you fully understand and follow safeguarding procedures.

Training & Qualifications

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. They will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up‑skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day. You will be working towards the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship standard, which includes:

• Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
• Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Qualification
• Functional skills in Maths and English if required
