URGENT CARE

Conquest Hospital – Nurse Team Manager – Accident and Emergency Department

Reference: We are a busy Emergency Department treating on average 50,000 patients a year. We are looking for a Band 7 – Nurse Team Manager to work within the Accident and Emergency Department. There is no guessing what the day might bring.

Every day will be different, busy but never dull. You will enjoy working with supportive co-workers, providing an efficient and caring service to our patient.

You will need to provide strong leadership, possess excellent communication skills and be able to develop and support staff with clinical and professional expertise. You will also be expected to function effectively under pressure without compromising standards of care and professionalism.

You must have advanced clinical knowledge and skills, be willing to participate in research and audit projects and will also be expected to work with a certain amount of autonomy. In return you will be offered excellent managerial support and a commitment to both your personal and professional development.

The successful candidates must have a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience with substantive experience at Band 6 in an Emergency Unit setting. A post registration qualification is essential and an awareness of current professional, research and practice issues and an understanding of modern human resource management.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in delivering and monitoring the Quality Agenda in Emergency Care.
  • Ensure the delivery of a high quality nursing service in line with Local and National Guidelines within Emergency Care by reviewing and supporting staff development.
  • Facilitate learning and development opportunities for staff specific to Emergency Care.
  • Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to the staff team and a range of students from different professions (pre-reg Nursing, Midwifery, medical, Paramedic, Paramedic Practitioner (PP), Critical Care Paramedic (CCP), ODP).
  • Lead in areas of research and audit.
  • Operate innovatively to achieve a balance between service provision and staff development.
  • Operate autonomously, assess, diagnose, treat and discharge patients within scope of practice in order to maintain clinical expertise.
  • Coordinate the Emergency Department as required.
  • Support management of staff, including appraisals, rotas, recruitment and selection as required.
