Job summary

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking healthcare professionals to diagnose and treat patients with minor illnesses and provide a range of screening, phlebotomy and health education services. The role includes safeguarding duties and referrals within the primary and secondary care teams.

You will perform routine checks, health surveillance and pathology-related procedures in a supportive NHS environment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing and treating patients presenting with minor illness
• Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within boundaries of competence, and acknowledge limitations.
• Advise patients on general health care and minor ailments, with referral to other members of the primary and secondary health care team as necessary
• Providing assessment, screening treatment services and health education advice: Dietary advice
• Blood pressure checks
• Urinalysis
• Health screening ECG
• Phlebotomy
• Routine injections
• First registration checks / health surveillance / general health advice
• Provide general and specific health screenings to the practice patients (within agreed protocols) with referral to other members of the primary and secondary health care team as necessary
• Pathological specimens and investigatory procedures
• Undertake the collection of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs etc.
• Perform investigatory procedures requested by the GPs
• Safeguarding
• All employees must carry out their responsibilities in such a way as to minimise risk of harm to children, young people and adults and to safeguard and promote their welfare in accordance with current legislation, statutory guidance and Trust policies and procedures.
• Employees should undertake safeguarding training and receive Safeguarding supervision appropriate to their role.
