Job summary

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) is seeking an experienced respiratory professional to join the team and lead advanced assessment, monitoring, and management of complex respiratory cases across primary and secondary care. You will drive prevention of unnecessary hospital admissions through cross-boundary collaboration.

The role involves staff management, MDT collaboration, and shaping pathways while implementing policy directives with the clinical lead.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification and current registration (RN/HCPC).
• Post-registration qualification specific to respiratory specialty.
• Evidence of continued professional development and its application.
• Independent or supplementary prescriber (or willingness to undertake).
• Teaching qualification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Work as a member of the respiratory team to undertake advanced assessment, treatment, monitoring and evaluation of complex respiratory caseload across primary and secondary care boundaries.
• Promote self-management and coping skills; manage exacerbations; perform oxygen assessment and monitoring; contribute to quality end of life care.
• Develop links with patients and multidisciplinary team to ensure robust patient pathways.
• Lead staff in the team and collaborate with other team leads for countywide service provision.
• Implement National and local policy directives with clinical lead.
• Participate in MDT working and provide specialist advice and education to colleagues.
• Manage day-to-day running of the local respiratory team, ensuring efficient resource use and staff development.
• Travel independently around the county to meet tight deadlines; full UK driving licence and vehicle required.

• To work as a member of the respiratory team to undertake advanced assessment, treatment, monitoring and evaluation of complex respiratory caseload; working seamlessly across primary and secondary care boundaries to facilitate prevention of unnecessary hospital admissions.
• Management of advanced respiratory disease, through the promotion of self management and coping skills; exacerbation management; oxygen assessment and monitoring; quality end of life care
• The development of links with patients and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patient pathways are robust and fit for purpose
• Management of the staff in the team and also working collaboratively with other team leads to ensure countywide service provision
• Implementation of National and local policy directives in conjunction with clinical lead
• Participation in multidisciplinary team (MDT) working
• Provision of specialist advise and education to colleagues and other members of the MDT
• To manage the day to day running of the local respiratory team, ensuring that resources are used efficiently and effectively; providing support and encouraging development of staff

Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence* and have use of a vehicle. You cannot use public transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs.
