Job Summary
The Nurse Associate will work as a member of the General Practice Nursing team under the guidance of a Registered General Nurse and support the organisation and facilitation of clinical care in a holistic and proactive manner to patients registered at the practice.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality, compassionate care while undertaking specific clinical and care tasks under the direction of a registered nurse (or other registered care professional) with a focus on promoting good health and independence.
- Support in cervical screening, child immunisations, bloods, ECG, asthma and diabetes reviews.
- Assist and perform routine nursing tasks related to patient care such as routine BP checks, ECG, suture and clip removal, BMI and lifestyle advice as directed by line manager and registered general nurses and GPs.
- Support patients to improve and maintain their mental, physical, behavioural health and wellbeing by using behaviour change interventions such as undertaking health checks (physical and mental) and smoking cessation services.
- Support the Registered General Nurse with the holistic assessment and planning of wound care plans for patients with chronic and acute wounds.
- Carry out chronic disease management annual reviews delegated by the Practice Nurse or senior colleague.
- Document consultations accurately and appropriately, according to NMC guideline.
- Ensure infection prevention and control guidelines are maintained.
Qualifications
- Nurse Associate foundation degree qualification.
- Satisfactory occupational health clearance for the role specified.
- Evidence of continual professional development to meet NMC requirements.
- Registered with the appropriate professional body.
Experience
- Experience of working in a primary care setting.
- Additional competencies such as long‑term condition management.
- Cervical screening.
- Use of EMIS.
