Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is expanding its Nuclear EMEA Process Engineering team in the UK. We seek engineers who can contribute to design, sizing, heat and material balances, and P&IDs, while applying HAZID/HAZOP and DSEAR safety assessments. You will collaborate across disciplines, engage with clients, and help grow a strong, inclusive team with mentoring.

You’ll work on diverse environments—client sites, embedded roles, and in-house support—fostering technical excellence and practical outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Chemical or Process Engineering (BEng/MEng) with IChemE chartership achieved or in progress.
  • Experience or interest in nuclear industry and related processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the full project lifecycle from concept design to decommissioning.
  • Contribute to core process engineering deliverables: process sizing, heat and material balances, P&IDs.
  • Apply process modelling and safety activities such as HAZID/HAZOP and DSEAR assessments.
  • Work with AtkinsRéalis teams to provide expert input where most valuable.
  • Engage with clients, support site-based and embedded roles, and deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Mentor and support development of others within a growing team.

Your role

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve technical challenges across the full project lifecycle, from concept design to decommissioning.
  • Contribute to core process engineering deliverables, including:
    • Process sizing calculations.
    • Heat and material balances.
    • P&IDs/.
  • Apply your skills and interest in process modelling and process safety activities such as HAZID/HAZOP studies and DSEAR assessments.
  • Work closely with colleagues across AtkinsRéalis to provide expertise where it is most valuable and impactful.
  • Experience a variety of working environments, including client-embedded roles, site-based assignments, and in-house engineering support.
  • Contribute to delivering high-quality, thoughtful engineering solutions with a strong focus on client outcomes.
