Job description

Due to continued growth and expansion, we have an exciting new opportunity for a Nuclear Sector Market Lead, reporting to the Energy Lead, Europe & India. The main emphasis of this role will focus on Nuclear, Power Generation, Nuclear Waste and Defense. You will be responsible for the identification and delivery of business development and growth (Sales) within existing and new markets. The successful candidate will develop and maintain business relationships while identifying client needs to advance AECOM's growth and profitability in the market. The Sector Lead role will maintain a clear understanding of sector-related market activity, client needs, and key pursuits. This role is focused on coordination, sector intelligence, and working alongside the regional teams to ensure opportunities linked to the sector are well understood and supported. The successful candidate will develop strong, strategic relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring a qualified bid pipeline that is aligned to the capabilities of the wider business (Environment + Energy, Building & Places, Advisory, Transport and Program Management). This role works closely with our Nuclear delivery team focusing on the UK market and will work across all AECOM Business Lines (ensuring all propositions are reviewed to maximise opportunity, profitability and manage / control business and financial risk). This is a leadership position that will require you to take a tactical and strategic lens; being the main point of contact for all matters relating to market shaping, client relationships, bid management and solutions. You will take responsibility in driving our business development strategy, proactively engage in capture management and help AECOM deliver differentiated high margin propositions and solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the figurehead for the sector, representing AECOM at industry events, conferences, and client forums to raise our profile in the sector demonstrating our technical excellence and innovation.
  • Develop and build deep relationships for key existing and target clients within the sector, in collaboration with CAMs and Regional Sector Leads and regional sector community.
  • Coordinate and work with Client Account Managers (CAMs) in the sector to ensure alignment of priorities, identifying, creating, positioning and converting opportunities with clients for all interested disciplines across Europe for year on year (YoY) NSR growth.
  • Build and maintain strategic client relationships across the sector, fostering trust, collaboration, and repeat business.
  • Act as central point of contact for all sector‑related queries and collaborate with other business lines in growing sector revenue.
  • Ensure strong links with all Business Lines to maximise AECOM wins in the sector and especially with the nuclear delivery team.
  • Drive work‑winning strategy and best practice to secure appropriate resourcing and bid leadership for strategic pursuits to optimise NSR and margin.
  • Act as a Capture Manager for strategic opportunities where appropriate.
  • Support wider bid teams by connecting them to relevant sector expertise.
  • Ensure intel from client engagements and key account calls are shared to inform decision‑making and pursuit planning.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on sector pipeline, key opportunities, and relevant market developments.
  • Ensure the pipeline of opportunities for the sector in Salesforce is constantly maintained, and is complete, accurate, and provides actionable insight for decision‑making.
  • Provide quarterly updates to leadership on sector performance, market trends, and strategic risks / opportunities.
  • Support building and maintaining a deep and diversified qualified opportunity pipeline.
  • Drive collaboration across Business Lines when projects require multi‑disciplined expertise.
  • Client Relationships – partner with the Client Account Manager and other business line representatives (including geo‑political positioning).
  • Growth – drive growth through the ability to position for and capture key opportunities including both new business opportunities and the renewal/extension of existing opportunities within the account.
  • Impact on AECOM reputation – champion for ethical and safe working practices while focusing on ED&I endeavours, striving to align AECOM's initiatives with those of the client.
  • Innovation – understand client's innovation agenda, act as a conduit to position AECOM's innovative solutions within the specific opportunity while encouraging adoption of key AECOM initiatives such as ESG and digitalisation.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated success in leading business development or sector growth within a consultancy or professional services environment, specifically in Nuclear, Power Generation, Nuclear Waste and Defense. Strong knowledge of the Energy sector dynamics, clients, and key competitors.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain high‑value client relationships at senior levels.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate a vision into practical action plans.
  • Seasoned capture manager with the ability to position for and secure key opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in sector‑related technical delivery.
  • Established industry profile with the ability to act as a thought leader.
  • Exceptional leadership qualities and the ability and willingness with evidence of building and maintaining strong relationships both internally & externally.
