A regional health authority in Aberdeen is seeking a part-time Consultant in Palliative Medicine to work at Roxburghe House. The role involves providing medical support to the Palliative Care Team and offering specialist care and advice to patients. Applications are invited for a part-time, 7PA post based at Roxburghe House in Aberdeen. The post may also involve provision of medical support to the Hospital Specialist Palliative Care Team based in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Roxburghe House is the regional specialist Palliative Care unit providing care and specialist advice for patients, families and healthcare professionals across the Grampian health board region. It also provides education and training to a wide range of health and social care professionals. Roxburghe House is situated within the grounds of Royal Cornhill Hospital, within easy walking distance of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI).
Aberdeen offers a high quality of life with good amenities and connections; the area includes rich natural surroundings such as Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms.
Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required. The licence to practise must be in place prior to starting in post.
Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview. CESR or Portfolio Pathway route doctors are eligible to apply for a substantive Consultant post once CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration is awarded. Those with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC should have a confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register. Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months).
