Overview

Thrombectomy Nurse

Band 6 - 37 Hours per week

Fixed Term for 12 months

Location: Acute Stroke Unit, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary

Role summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join the Acute Stroke Unit as a thrombectomy nurse. We are seeking an experienced nurse who will further enhance our team managing acute stroke patients admitted mainly from ED and identify patients for thrombolysis and thrombectomy and assist in the transfer to Ninewells Hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Understand the Scottish Stroke Care Audit and Standards.
  • Be a registered general nurse (Part 1 of the NMC register) with previous experience in an acute setting.
  • Demonstrate continued professional development and an interest in acute stroke care.
  • Demonstrate safe clinical decision making and provide expert care and advice for patients who have suffered a stroke.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
  • Support training such as STAT, STAT+, dysphagia awareness, Stroke Training and Awareness resource and Advancing modules (STARS).
  • Receive appropriate stroke training as needed.

  • Ability to work in an acute Stroke setting and participate in transfers as required.
