Job summary

A leading food manufacturing firm in the UK is looking for a candidate with a bakery background to support new product development. Responsibilities include conducting trials, documenting outcomes, and providing support to the NPD team. Ideal applicants will have 1-2 years of food manufacturing experience and strong organisational skills. The role does not offer sponsorship.

Qualifications

  • Must have a bakery background.
  • Min. 1-2 years experience in food manufacturing within NPD or Process Development.
  • Able to approach work in a proactive and methodical way.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out NPD factory and transport trials.
  • Document trial outcomes in reports.
  • Assist NPD Inspector with inspection and yield trials.
  • Provide general support to the Senior NPD Technologist and NPD Manager.

Job description
  • Must have a bakery background
  • Carry out NPD factory and transport trials to test new concepts and ideas prior customer presentation, trial data collection
  • Document the trial outcome in reports (machine settings, yields, target pictures, weight check data). Raise issues with NPD team
  • Attend process trials and project meetings leading up to new product launches
  • Organise and document organoleptic over life assessments of new raw materials and products
  • Assist NPD Inspector with inspection and yield trials
  • Take part in implementing new machinery into the factory
  • Arrange competitor samples for benchmarking exercises when required
  • Organising new ingredient tastings and new product testing, collating information and comments into documents. Preparing organoleptic reports
  • Assist in completion of essential NPD documentation, e.g. process flows
  • Checking of product related factory documents, assisting in artwork approval
  • Assist in creation of new outer case boxes and label cutter guides
  • ph & water activity testing of new developed products and components
  • Help with the organisation, preparation and distribution of customer samples
  • Organise target pictures of new signed off products
  • Generation of finished product cooking instructions
  • Attend weekly taste panels
  • Provide general support to the Senior NPD Technologist and NPD Manager and engage in tasks to support the wider objectives of the company
Competency
  • Hand on attitude required
  • Good command of English, both verbal and written
  • Good attention to detail
  • Able to approach work in a proactive and methodical way
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Good understanding of Excel and Word
  • Able to work flexibly from time to time to ensure business needs are met
  • Min. 1-2 years experience working in a food manufacturing environment within NPD or Process Development
