Are you a Registered Nurse, Paramedic, or Allied Health Professional (AHP) with a passion for patient-centred care? We are building a flexible bank of clinicians to work across Extended Access (in-hours) and Out of Hours (OOH) services. As part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will provide autonomous clinical assessment, examination, and management of minor illness presentations, using both telephone and face-to-face consultations. Working alongside GPs and other professionals, developing advanced clinical skills and contributing to safe, effective, and standardised care.

Main duties of the job
  • Youwill be a RN, Paramedic, or Allied Health Professional withthe skills to deliver autonomous care across both Extended Access (in-hours)and Out of Hours (OOH) services. Your role will ensure patients receive timely,safe, and effective treatment through a combination of telephone consultationsand face-to-face contact.
  • Youwill demonstrate excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills, apassion for patient-centred care, and highly developed communication abilities.
  • Assess,diagnose, treat, and signpost patients appropriately, considering complex needsand co-morbidities, including frailty.
  • Providecare for minor illness and injury presentations across both in-hours and OOHsettings.
  • Workcollaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), including GPs and otherhealthcare professionals, to maintain continuity and quality of care.
  • Respondflexibly to service demands, adapting to different care settings and patientneeds across Extended Access and OOH environments.
  • Maintainhigh standards of clinical practice, ensuring safe, effective, and standardisedcare for all patients.
  • Contributeto the development of advanced clinical skills in minor illness and injury,supported by mentorship and training opportunities.

Qualifications
  • Degree level Registered Nurse (NMC) or paramedic practitioner (HCPC)
  • Non-Medical Prescriber
  • Educated to Degree level
  • Recognised accredited qualification & competency in autonomous practice, Nurse practitioner
  • Accredited qualification in advanced clinical assessment and examination and equivalent minor injury/illness degree/masters level programmes
  • Teaching qualification
Experience
  • Broad senior level clinical experience relevant to the post e.g. minor injury, walk in centre or emergency department
  • Accredited history taking course
  • ECDL or evidence of IT literacy
  • Significant experience of working in a Band 6/7 role within emergency/urgent care settings, working as senior practitioner
  • Experience of communicating delicate, complex and sensitive information at senior level
  • Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and communication skills to all stakeholders
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD and professional development
  • A thorough understanding of the principles of clinical governance and NHS policy issues
  • Motivational and can do attitude
  • Ability to cope with and diffuse difficult and stressful situations
  • Evidence of an ability to prioritise workload for themselves and their team

  • Evidence of advanced clinical reasoning including the ability to reflect upon own performance and partake and lead in clinical supervision

  • Excellent presentation skills with practical experience of paeds (over 12's)
  • 12 months + non-medical prescribing experience
  • Knowledge of long-term condition management
  • Specialist knowledge in respiratory, cardiac, diabetic, long term conditions and acute on the day presentations
  • Experience of leading an MDT in the NHS
  • Proven knowledge of the principles of risk management, the integrated governance framework and compliance with risk and quality safety standards
  • Experience in change management
  • Experience in leading audits and/or research
  • Enhanced IT skills databases, excel, word, outlook and internet
  • Excellent presentation skills with practical experience of paeds (under 5's)
