Job description

Veterinary Surgeon – Clinical Autonomy, No OOH – Northamptonshire – Competitive Salary DOE

A brilliant opportunity for a confident, experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking for genuine clinical freedom and the chance to shape their own caseload in a well-equipped, supportive practice.

About the Practice

This well-established small animal practice in Daventry has a loyal and established client base already in place, offering a fantastic platform for the right vet to grow their clinical interests — whether surgical or medical. The practice is well equipped with ultrasound, ECG, dental suite and in-house laboratory, and is supported by a friendly, close-knit team.

The practice also benefits from access to a nearby 24-hour hospital, providing additional clinical resource and specialist support for the wider team.

About the Role

This is a full-time position working 40 hours across 4 days, with part-time also considered. The weekend rota is either 1 in 3 Saturdays or 1 in 6 full weekends at the nearby 24-hour hospital. There is no out-of-hours requirement.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality clinical care across consultations and surgery
  • Developing tailored treatment plans in collaboration with clients
  • Building strong, lasting relationships with a loyal client base
  • Contributing to the wider development of the clinical community
Why Daventry?

Daventry is a charming Northamptonshire market town offering a brilliant balance of quiet, community-focused living with excellent connectivity. The town sits close to junction 16 of the M1 and has easy access via the A45, making it well connected to Northampton, Coventry and Birmingham. The surrounding Northamptonshire countryside is beautiful, with rolling hills and picturesque villages on the doorstep — and larger cities with mainline rail links are within easy reach for those wanting city access on days off. House prices remain very affordable compared to much of the Midlands, making Daventry a popular choice for those looking to put down roots.

What They’re Looking For

They are looking for a qualified MRCVS who is comfortable with sole charge work and genuinely excited by the opportunity to grow and develop their clinical focus in a practice that gives them the freedom to do so. Experience, leadership skills and a passion for client care are key. Relocation support and visa sponsorship are available for the right candidate.

What They Can Offer You
  • High level of clinical autonomy and freedom
  • Support for certificates and funded career pathways
  • No out-of-hours requirement
  • 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays, rising with service — plus an extra paid day just for you
  • £1,500 CPD allowance plus 3 paid CPD days per year
  • RCVS, VDS and BVA fees paid
  • Private Medical Insurance and Health Cash Plan from day one
  • 24/7 counselling and wellbeing support
  • Life assurance (3x salary)
  • Relocation support and visa sponsorship available
  • Sabbatical options based on length of service
  • Lead Vet Contribution Scheme
