Qualifications

Main duties of the job

Our vibrant services in Wigan and Leigh provide support to people concerned about their own or someone else\'s alcohol or drug use. We have services in both Wigan and Leigh but much of our work is carried out in the local communities we serve. The service is an integrated drug and alcohol service, delivering an asset based community approach to treatment. We specialise in harm reduction and needle syringe provision, psycho social interventions, opioid substitution treatment, referral to detox and community interventions. As a leading charity supporting people with drug, alcohol, and mental health challenges, we operate over 80 services across England and Scotland, providing free and confidential support to more than 100,000 people each year. As a Non Medical Prescriber, you will be eager to keep up to date with developments in the treatments that you are prescribing and help With You to develop, implement and evaluate the interventions we use with our clients. These include: harm reduction; providing support and advice in relation to substance misuse clinics (where we assess and review prescribed treatment plans); advise on detoxification; vaccination and blood testing programmes. It\'s not just about those people who actively engage with our service though - you will also be reaching out to those in our communities to offer proactive support and education.

Job responsibilities

Closing date: Friday 7th November. This role is to join us as a Non Medical Prescriber in Wigan. We offer an exciting opportunity to expand our clinical team and help reach underserved communities struggling with substance misuse in Wigan. If you are a first level Registered Nurse or a Registered Pharmacist who thrives working in a community setting, assessing and supporting people with their healthcare issues, this might be just the role for you. Essential Skills

To be effective in this job you will:

  • be a Registered General Nurse, Registered Mental Nurse or a Registered Pharmacist (GPhC)
  • have successfully completed the supplementary/independent prescriber course and hold an appropriate entry on the NMC register or GPhC register
  • be able to demonstrate OST prescribing experience
  • be able to evidence your continuous professional development
  • have a successful track record of delivering nursing interventions in a community setting
  • be able to demonstrate your experience of healthcare assessments, care planning and key working
  • be able to evidence peer working or working within a multi-disciplinary team, and collaborating with external agencies
  • have knowledge of the issues affecting substance misusers, including the impact on their wider health

Person Specification and Qualifications
  • Qualifications: be a Registered General Nurse, Registered Mental Nurse or a Registered Pharmacist (GPhC); have completed the prescriber course and be on NMC or GPhC register; OST prescribing experience; CPD evidence; community nursing experience; healthcare assessments, care planning and key working; collaboration with multidisciplinary teams; knowledge of substance misuse issues.
