Job description

King’s and Lord Treasurer’s Remembrancer (KLTR) represents the Crown in Scotland for ownerless property, heirless estates, and Treasure Trove—delivering public value, transparency, and community benefit. We are a unique public sector organisation, supported by the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, and guided by an ambitious reform programme.

Our reforms include the Ownerless Property Transfer Scheme, enabling land and buildings to be transferred to public bodies and communities; the implementation of the Treasure Trove Review, strengthening museum engagement; and modernising governance and performance reporting. These changes mean we need board members who understand Scotland’s land, heritage, and regeneration landscape and can provide strong scrutiny, challenge, and strategic advice.

As a Non-Executive Director, you will help shape our future, hold us to account on delivering our Strategic Plan, and bring fresh thinking to complex issues. Your insight will support innovation and ensure we deliver real public benefit.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in land, property and regeneration, or heritage, museums and archaeology. If you want to make a difference and influence how Scotland’s historic Crown rights deliver value today, we’d love to hear from you.
