Job summary

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and security-cleared Node.js Developer to join a long-term government programme within the UK defence sector. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining secure back-end services and APIs using Node.js and modern cloud technologies. You'll work as part of a collaborative agile team delivering scalable solutions that support national security objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain back-end services using Node.js and Express.js
• Write clean, testable, and efficient code following best practices
• Ensure systems are secure, scalable, and compliant with defence standards
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussions
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across environments

Essential Skills & Experience

• Active Security Check (SC) Clearance
• Strong proficiency in Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience with Express.js, Restful APIs, and micro services architecture
• Familiarity with AWS, Docker, and containerised environments
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and data protection standards
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Desirable Skills

• Experience in the defence or public sector
• Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git Lab, or GitHub Actions
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)
