Looking for a community-based role with the support, expertise and energy of a larger practice? Coastway Veterinary Group are looking to welcome a new member to our fabulous team to work across our Lewes branch and Brighton Hospital. We’re a large, RCVS accredited practice boasting 5 fully equipped branch practices plus our large central Brighton hospital. We also run the region’s biggest emergency vet service. Coastway Vets has been providing outstanding care to the region’s pets for 45 years and our fantastic team of passionate professionals is dedicated to excellence in veterinary medicine.
We’re offering a full-time position (with flexible working considered) split between our Lewes branch and Brighton Hospital, both situated within easy reach of one another. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident vet with excellent communication skills who enjoys the variety of both branch and hospital practice. You’ll have the opportunity to build strong client relationships within our local community while also benefiting from the collaborative environment, facilities and expertise available within our busy Brighton Hospital.
The role provides an excellent balance of autonomy and teamwork, combining community-focused first opinion practice with the support and resources of a larger veterinary group.
At our Lewes branch you will work in sole charge, supported by 2 RVNs and a receptionist, managing your own cases with the reassurance of a friendly wider team and support from our Brighton Hospital whenever needed.
At Coastway you’ll be part of our close-knit team who strive to ensure we deliver the best every single day. Our Brighton Hospital is home to 17 day vets and 5 dedicated night vets. We have multiple certificate holders in ECC, medicine, surgery, cardiology, imaging, exotics and oncology, alongside a visiting ophthalmologist every two weeks and an orthopaedic surgeon twice a week. The vets are supported by 24 RVNs, a laboratory technician, stock manager, customer care manager and referral coordinator, meaning you’ll always have access to a wealth of experience and clinical support while enjoying the continuity and autonomy of branch practice at Lewes.
We love to give back, and we actively engage with our local community and support various charities. Last year, our team organised a charity walk, cleaned a local park pond, participated in the Lewes Raft Race, joined the Pride parade and launched a pet food bank collection.
We’re proud of our culture – and our Head Nurse sums it up perfectly:
“We are a small, friendly, supportive team. There is a great team atmosphere which is appreciated by our lovely clients. There is usually lots of laughter.”
Our Lewes branch is located in the beautiful historic county town of East Sussex, nestled on the edge of the South Downs National Park, while Brighton Hospital is just a short drive away. Brighton is renowned for its welcoming and diverse atmosphere, thriving cultural scene, creativity and commitment to sustainability. From its iconic seafront and historic landmarks to the stunning South Downs countryside on its doorstep, there’s something for everyone to enjoy outside of work.
The area also benefits from excellent transport links, with direct trains to London in around an hour and easy access to Gatwick Airport.
We work hard to be a great place to work and as the newly awarded Employer of the Year, VetPartners offers a supportive, progressive environment where you can thrive.
