Job description

We are looking for a confident Night Unit Coordinator (RMN/RNLD) who can inspire, support and oversee the delivery of the very best care within our services onsite at Cygnet Hospital Harrow. You will be expected to work 38.5 hours a week (nights only).

Cygnet Hospital Harrow provides a recovery focused service treating a wide range of mental health problems. We also offer specialist diagnostic, assessment and inpatient services for individuals with mental health needs and who also have a dual diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. Our acute in‑patient psychiatric services offer assessment, diagnosis and treatment for individuals with a wide range of psychological and emotional problems, including those who are detained under the Mental Health Act.

Qualifications
  • Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered Learning Disabilities Nurse.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise the smooth running of a shift and take leadership responsibility for the ward in the absence of the Ward Manager (staff coordination and overseeing ward operations).
  • Act as a role model to all staff in clinical areas, helping to maintain a motivated positive workforce.
  • Identify and assess complex clinical and non‑clinical issues, implement resolutions and monitor outcomes.
  • Take an active role in clinical audit on the ward and in the hospital.
  • Coordinate the hospital to ensure that tasks are prioritised and undertaken in a timely efficient manner.
  • Provide professional and advanced clinical support and advice to on‑call doctors, nursing staff and multidisciplinary team members working within the hospital sites.
  • Work autonomously, managing routine activities and responding to emergencies, escalating issues appropriately to the on‑call manager.
  • Follow and ensure others implement Cygnet Policy and Procedures and maintain a level of service which meets the standard for the hospital.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
