Job summary

Northern Trains Limited is seeking a Night Train Cleaner based at Carlisle Train Station to support the safe, clean, and welcoming operation of trains for the next day’s service. You’ll join a dedicated team, performing thorough daily cleans and specialist deep cleans to uphold high hygiene standards.

Role requires comfort working outdoors at night, strong pace, and attention to detail. You’ll follow safety procedures on rail assets and be part of a rolling 4/5 roster, with shift pattern

Qualifications

• Prior cleaning experience (commercial, industrial, or domestic).
• Exceptional attention to detail and high hygiene standards.
• Strong work ethic and team mindset.
• Comfort working outdoors and aboard trains in all weather during night hours.
• Physical capability and stamina for long shifts (10,000+ steps per night).

Responsibilities

• Clean train interiors thoroughly, including tables, windows, seats, floors, and high-touch areas.
• Remove litter, empty bins, and restock onboard facilities.
• Carry out full cleans or specialist deep cleans to keep fleet in top condition.
• Operate cleaning equipment and use techniques to remove ingrained dirt.
• Respond safely to biohazard spills per health and safety procedures.
• Work with your team to complete tasks efficiently so trains depart on time.
