Job description

Overview

£31,936 - £34,888 assuming good attendance

Hours: Waking nights (4 on / 4 off)

Working in our Children’s Homes means being part of a young person’s day to day life. It means being there for the highest highs and lowest lows. Our night support workers help young people get their childhood back and create pathways to become well‑rounded adults – an incredibly rewarding role. There will be challenges along the way but there will also be the smallest moments that feel like huge small victories. Our homes accommodate young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, and our aim is to create the best possible outcome for the young people in our care. Desired young people are affected by the smallest positive changes, and we celebrate the little things.

Responsibilities

You’ll take care of the home and our young people through the night. When a young person wakes up in the middle of the night dealing with severe trauma, feeling ill, upset or simply unable to sleep, the presence of someone who understands them and can provide support can make a huge difference. Building rapport and becoming someone our young people can trust in times of need is what we are looking for. In quieter times you will also take care of tasks around the home such as paperwork, cleaning and laundry, ensuring the environment remains safe and comfortable.

Benefits
  • Salary: Base salary of £28,536 – £31,488
  • Bonuses: £1,400 Attendance Allowance (assuming good attendance), £2,000 Regional Allowance, £1,000 Welcome Bonus (upon successful completion of probation), £1,000 Loyalty Bonus (after 12 months of employment)
  • Training: A full 4‑week induction on our Care Academy
  • Holiday: 7 weeks’ holiday
  • Progression: Most team leaders and managers are promoted from within the group; you could join our ‘Aspire’ future managers programme
  • Flexible benefits package: adjust holiday allowance, pension and life insurance as needed
  • Wellbeing: access to wellbeing tools and advice, including employee assistance
  • Medical cover: claim back costs for optician, dentist, and other medical appointments, plus high‑street discounts
Requirements
  • A ‘can do’ attitude – a team player who rolls up their sleeves to help others
  • We genuinely care about our young people and each other; honesty and empathy are musts
  • Resilience to deal with challenging situations
  • A full UK driving licence held for at least 12 months
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is preferred; if you do not have one, we will pay for you to study and support you every step of the way
  • Will start life as a NSO by entering our ‘Care Academy’ – 4 weeks of off‑the‑job training with experienced professionals to feel confident and ready to support our young people

We are an equal opportunities employer welcoming applications from all sections of the community.
