Job summary

Spark of Genius is seeking a Residential Childcare Worker for night shifts in Newmilns. You will support young people with daily routines, meals, and activities in a warm, home-like Riverside House setting.

You will work with a caring team to record notes in electronic care systems, and there is a path to SSSC qualifications while offering ongoing development and a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with residential care for young people preferred.
• Willingness to work toward SSSC qualifications.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• Open to ongoing development and learning with support from the team.
• Excellent communication skills in speaking and writing.
• Desire to help others and make a difference.

Responsibilities

• Support young people with daily routines and activities (school prep, meals, activities).
• Assist senior staff with timely updates.
• Promote individuality and avoid a one-size-fits-all approach.
• Complete and update care plans regularly with any new requirements.
• Help with light housekeeping to maintain a warm, home-like environment.
• Build strong relationships and provide emotional support.
• Plan and participate in activities (parks, movie nights, crafts).
• Be comfortable using an electronic care recording system daily (Clearcare is advantageous).

Residential Childcare Worker - Nights

Location: Newmilns, KA16

Pay: £27,976 unqualified -£29,036 with an SVQ or HNC -£32,510 with SVQ & HNC

A full UK driving licence is required and we are unable to offer sponsorship for this vacancy

What You'll Do

As a children's residential support worker you will support young people with their daily routines; Getting them ready for school, prepping for meal times and planning activities.

• Ensure our children receive the highest level of support
• Support senior staff with timely updates
• Promote individuality NOT a "one size fits all" approach
• Complete and update care plans regularly, updating with any additional requirements
• Be part of a warm, homely environment by helping with light housekeeping
• Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support
• Plan and join fun activities like trips to the park, popcorn & movie nights or creative projects

New staff must be comfortable using an electronic care recording system on a daily basis to document, monitor, and update children and young people's records accurately. Experience with Clearcare is an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided. However, all staff are expected to confidently use digital systems as part of their day-to-day role.

A Little About This Home

Riverside House is a large Victorian house set in a small village in East Ayrshire. The main house comprises of 6 bedrooms with a self-contained flat in the basement level of the home, a perfect transition for those young people who are ready to live semi-independently.
