Overview

The Orpheus Centre is a charity and SEN College which supports young disabled adults aged 18-25 to learn essential life skills, gain formal qualifications and prepare for future employment. All young people who come to Orpheus have a love of the arts and are able to experience music, dance, drama, music technology and visual arts during their time at the college. The arts are what makes Orpheus unique. It is a place to nurture creative talents, experience the professional arts world and in doing so, build confidence and self-esteem, and have a greater sense of wellbeing, identity, and purpose. Role Summary

We are currently seeking a self-motivated, skilled and experienced Night Support Lead to line manage night support staff and oversee the smooth running of the team during the night.

Working Pattern

35 hours a week / 44 weeks per year, following a two-week rota pattern. A typical work pattern could look as follows, but will be discussed in more depth at interview.

  • Monday (Night) – 21:00 – 06:00
  • Tuesday – OFF
  • Wednesday (Night) 21:00 – 06:00
  • Thursday Off
  • Friday (Late) 18:00 – Midnight
  • Saturday (Late) 18:00 – Midnight
  • Sunday (Late) 21:00 – 06:00

Please note that this is a term time only contract for 44 weeks a year, 38 of which are term weeks, plus 6 weeks of admin, rehearsals, training – to be worked as required by the organisation.

Salary: £28,700.48 per annum pro rata

Essential qualifications, knowledge and experience
  • Good level of Maths, English
  • A minimum of two years’ experience of working with young people or adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
  • Experienced in providing personal care for individuals
  • Have an understanding of the range of different types of learning difficulties and disabilities
  • Willingness to maintain and update personal specialist skills and knowledge through engaging with appropriate professional development activities and training
  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of students with personal care and medical needs
  • Good computer and IT skills are essential for this role
  • Good administrative skills
  • Innovative and creative
  • Sense of humour
  • Caring and patient attitude
  • Excellent people skills
  • Ability to work well in a team and foster good relationships within a multidisciplinary work force.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with other professionals, colleagues, students and families/carers.
