Job summary

John Lewis Partnership in East Grinstead is looking for a Supermarket Assistant to help keep shelves stocked, support online orders, and deliver friendly, partner-led service to customers.

You’ll be part of a busy team with varied hours across evenings and weekends (20:00–01:00), and opportunities to contribute to a great shopping experience.

Previous customer-facing experience is welcomed; an interest in food trends and a flexible approach will help you thrive in our branch.

Qualifications

• Communication skills to enable you to work effectively as part of a team and with our customers.
• Experience of working in a customer facing role is welcomed.
• Up to date knowledge and strong interest in food and drink trends.
• Flexible approach to ensure the support of the whole branch.

Responsibilities

• Stock replenishment – ensuring shelves are full and products are in the right place for customers.
• Fulfilling online customer orders ready for drivers to deliver to customers' doors.
• Reducing wastage by following product due diligence and markdowns for items near sell-by dates.
• Working with the wider shop team to support when needed including checkout, Click & Collect, and fulfilling on-demand orders.
• Maintain a safe and tidy working environment with general shopkeeping tasks.
