Job summary

Hitachi Rail in London is seeking a driven Driver Refueler to operate at the North Pole Train Maintenance Centre on a rotating night shift. The role pays £41,443 with a 15% shift allowance and a £6,000 location allowance, on a permanent contract.

Key duties include driving trains, refuelling, servicing, and data capture in the MMS and SAP systems. Alevel engineering background is preferred, with strong safety awareness and teamwork necessary.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting a maintenance team on a shift basis.
• Safety awareness in railway environments.
• Knowledge of safe systems of work.
• Good communication skills.
• Experience with MMS and reliability/availability trend analysis.
• Manual Handling, COSHH, working at height, powered tools.

Responsibilities

• Undertake train movements and drive trains within the depot.
• Service trains including diesel, Ad-Blu, water and toilet systems.
• Record servicing and materials used in MMS.
• Monitor SAP to ensure work is recorded.
• Carry out daily checks of service spine equipment.
• Report defects to Refuelling Team Leader.
• Support maintenance staff with corrective and preventative maintenance.
• Contribute to development of MMS.
• Ensure fluids and materials are accounted for and returned.
• Follow lean principles and best practices.
• Support availability of trains for service.
