Job description
Overview

Night Shift Manager • Food Manufacturing • North Northamptonshire • c.£55,000

Shift: 12 hours, continental.

Let's be honest — the night shift isn't for everyone. We’re not looking for someone to just get through the night. We want someone who can make the night shift better, hold the fort while everyone else sleeps, and take responsibility for people, product, and performance.

The team you'll lead is composed of good, hard‑working people who know their stuff. You’ll need to be calm under pressure, decisive, and ready to roll up your sleeves.

Responsibilities
  • Keep production on track and resolve occasional issues (e.g., interpreting unusual machine noises).
  • Identify and implement improvements to make life safer and easier for the team.
  • Coach, develop, and support the night shift team, especially when leadership coverage is limited.
  • Operate in a fast-paced, high‑standard environment typical of a site with short shelf life (e.g., chilled, ready-to-eat, bakery, dairy).
  • Lead with accountability for people, product, and performance during the night shift.
Qualifications
  • Experience running production in a similar environment (chilled, ready-to-eat, bakery, dairy, etc.).
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, make steady decisions, and take hands-on action when needed.
  • Proven leadership skills with the capability to coach and develop a night shift team.
What You Get
  • A solid salary with proper support from day shift leadership.
  • The chance to shape what nights look like on site.
  • The satisfaction of keeping production running while the world sleeps.
