Job summary

Marie Curie in the UK is seeking a compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our community team covering central and south Oxfordshire, providing personalised end-of-life care in patients' homes. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting care plans and ensuring a safe, dignified environment.

Contract is permanent with full-time or reduced hours; night shifts run 22:00–06:30, with enhanced rates for unsocial hours.

Qualifications

• Recent experience of providing care in health or social care settings; able to support dignity and respect.
• Understanding of person-centred care with a commitment to patients and families.
• Good IT skills including email, training platforms and care recording systems.
• NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care is desirable.
• Valid driving licence and ability to travel up to 25 miles from home across central Oxfordshire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care, skin integrity, nutrition and hydration, mobility, rest and sleep; maintain a clean, safe care environment.
• Observe changes in a person's condition; support symptom management; escalate concerns promptly to registered professionals.
• Communicate calmly and sensitively with patients and loved ones while preserving dignity and wellbeing.
