Job summary

DK Recruitment Ltd is seeking a hands-on Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer for a permanent night-shift position in a busy Plymouth manufacturing site.

You will diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults, perform planned maintenance, and support continuous improvement across production equipment and automated systems. This role offers development toward leadership in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• ONC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification.
• Completion of a recognised apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience in manufacturing/production environment.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Good mechanical maintenance and problem-solving ability.
• Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics and variable speed drives.
• Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance and accurate record-keeping.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
• Structured troubleshooting approach with root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Respond to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing faults and carrying out long-term repairs to minimise downtime.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) to keep machinery safe and reliable.
• Undertake electrical fault-finding across manufacturing machinery, drives, safety circuits and associated equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical faults.
• Support maintenance activities across production machinery, automated equipment and site services.
• Identify recurring faults and contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Record maintenance activities, faults, repairs and parts used in CMMS.
• Support installation, commissioning and testing of new equipment.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality and Engineering to maintain performance and quality.
• Follow health and safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
• Provide technical guidance to colleagues as required.
